Septic Tank Inspection

If you are buying a home with a septic tank, you should consider having it inspected by a professional septic company. My standard home inspection does not include this type of specialized, intrusive inspection. To properly inspect the system, the septic company will need to dig holes to access the underground parts of the system. This will include inspecting the tank, as well as the leach field.

As a courtesy and with your approval, I call Kent Clean Septic and schedule them to join us at the inspection. You pay them directly. Their fees vary depending on the town. We can go over those fees when you schedule an inspection.

When possible, you should have the sellers identify the location of the septic tank cover and leach field. This is more of an issue in the winter when to ground is too frozen to "probe" for these underground components.
